Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday met Home Guard personnel Rajbir Singh who, while on duty as a marshal in a bus, was attacked by a man with a blade, and assured him all medical help.

Rajbir Singh was attacked by the man on August 12 when the marshal asked him to vacate a seat reserved for women.

During the meeting, he narrated the whole incident to Kejriwal in the presence of Transport Minister Gopal Rai.

"We are proud of you (Rajbir). I wanted to meet you in person. I want to know what help you need from us?" the chief minister asked him.

An official statement said Kejriwal immediately asked the health minister to arrange for Rajbir Singh's free treatment and to get him reimbursed whatever expenses he has already incurred.

"Any help you require, you can tell us, we will be happy to do whatever possible," he said.

Kejriwal said the city government and the Delhi Transport Corporation would formulate further measures for the welfare of the marshals deployed.
