Unesco inscribes Jamaica's reggae music on heritage list

Jamaican music has been allocated a spot as one of the UN' global cultural treasures, the organization said on Thursday.

Unesco, the UN's cultural heritage organization, made the announcement at a meeting in Mauritius, Efe news reported.

"(music's) contribution to international discourse on issues of injustice, resistance, love and humanity underscores the dynamics of the element as being at once cerebral, socio-political, sensual and spiritual," said in a statement.
