The US has approved supply of short-range, unarmed, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to Pakistan.

The ScanEagle system will support the country in intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance capability in counter-terrorism operations, The Nation reported on Tuesday.

According to reports, hardware and technical data will be delivered to Pakistan under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme by August 2016.

Pakistan will receive the system through a deal worth $10.52 million.

ScanEagle carries a stabilised electro-optical and infrared camera on a lightweight inertial turret system, and an integrated communications system having a range of over 100 km.

It has a flight endurance of over 20 hours, designed to provide high quality real-time ground imaging through adverse weather conditions or other battlefield obscurants.
