Youth dies in Shimla from lightning strike

A youth died in Shimla after being struck by lightning Saturday, police said.

Santosh, a student of M.Com, was returning from the historical Jakhu Temple with two friends when lightning struck him, a police official said.

He said the victim was standing below a tree along with his friends when the disaster occurred.

However, his friends escaped unhurt.

The Jakhu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is located at Mount Jakhu -- the highest peak in the town located at an altitude of 8,500 feet.
