A prominent West Bengal Congress leader went to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi to impress upon her the ill effects of an alliance with Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. After hearing her out for a few minutes, Gandhi asked her to submit her views in writing. When the leader insisted on saying the alliance would not benefit the Congress, Gandhi had no option but to bluntly tell her that she did not share the view and the Congress would gain from the alliance.
