Rahul Gandhi accuses opposition BJP of elitism
Congress wants poor to live their dreams, party works for aam aadmi not for select few, he says

On a day that BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi while being felicitated on his birthday in Gandhinagar, wished aloud that the UPA government “should be uprooted”, Congress scion Rahul Gandhi lambasted the Opposition BJP for its elitism. Addressing his second rally in poll bound Rajasthan’s Baran district, Gandhi said, “The Congress party works for the ‘aam aadmi’ not for a select few. India can move forward only if the poor can realise their dreams."
In Gujarat, Modi said to loud applause, “For the first time, the common man is waiting for elections. They are getting restless. It should happen fast so that the government is uprooted".
Taking up Modi’s oft cited ‘development’ plank, the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said, “Like the Opposition, we too talk about development, about building roads, rail, ports, school and bridges. But unlike them, we want those who build that infrastructure, the poor labourers, to also benefit."

He stressed, “The Congress wants the poor to live their dreams. The party works for the aam aadmi not for a select few.”
Gandhi highlighted the laws enacted by the Congress led UPA government, the Food Security Bill and Land Bill to empower the weaker sections of the society.
Distinguishing the Congress government from those in other states, who doled out sops like free electricity, Gandhi cited the Rajasthan state government led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s scheme of “free medicines” that were aimed at making life easy for the aam aadmi. He went announce that "soon it (the scheme) will happen in rest of the country, however, the Opposition says it can't be done.”
Continuing his tirade against the Opposition he said, “There are two ideologies in politics today, one of the Congress party and the other of Opposition parties who are only thinking about a select few."
