15 "Engineer" officers pass out from Naval academy

Fifteen "Engineer" officers from Navy and three from Coast Guard joined the "Aviation Arm" of the respective service today on successful completion of 55th Air Engineering and Air Electrical Officers Specialisation Course at the Naval base here.

A ceremonial passing out parade was held on the occasion at Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology (NIAT), Naval Base, which was reviewed by Rear Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Chief Staff Officer (Training) of Southern Naval Command, Navy said in a release.

Lieutenant Deepak Bamola and Sub Lieutenant Aditya Verma were awarded trophies for standing first in the overall order of merit amongst Air Engineer and Air Electrical Officers respectively, it said.
 

The Director General Coast Guard trophy for best all-round officer of the course was awarded to Lieutenant Arun R Pisharody, while Venduruthy Shield for Best Air Technical Project was bagged by Assistant Commandant Prasanjeet Nath and Lieutenant Saril T Babu.

Speaking on the occasion, Rear Admiral Swaminathan, highlighted the pivotal role to be played by young air technical officers in ensuring high standards of maintenance and optimum exploitability of state-of-the-art flying machines presently in service viz MiG29K, P8I and AJT Hawk.

The officers have been appointed to frontline squadrons at air stations, wherein, on completion of On Job Training (OJT) they would be eligible for award of M.Tech degree under the aegis of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).

Captain Yogesh C Pandey, Director, NIAT, conducted the parade.
