17-year-old girl raped in UP

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man of her village in Phephna police station area here, police said today.

The girl had gone out to relieve herself when a 45-year- old man raped her yesterday and fled after warning her of dire consequences, superintendent of police, Anis Ansari said.

The father of the girl has lodged a case and the accused has been taken into custody, the SP said adding that the girl has been sent for medical examination.
