A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death allegedly by unidentified assailants in Rohini's Meer Vihar area, police said Friday.

The incident took place on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

The victim was identified as Shamsher Alam, a vegetable vendor and a resident of Meer Vihar, they said.

Alam along with his father Mohammad Salim were returning home after selling vegetables, when some unidentified men took them to a secluded spot in Meer Vihar, police said.

"Two men caught hold of Salim while and another person stabbed his son in front of him before fleeing from the spot," said S D Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini).

The father of the victim was not assaulted, the senior officer said.

The victim, who sustained a single stab wound, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday afternoon, the officer said.

A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the accused, the officer added.
