18-yr-old drowns in canal

The body of an 18-year-old youth who slipped into a canal was recovered late last night, the police said.

Durgesh Pandey, 18, had slipped and fallen in a canal near his village while sitting on its bank, SHO, Jamo police station B L Mishra said.

The body was fished out late night, he added.

In another incident in this district, a 27-year-old woman from village Chheera under police station Piparpur was crushed to death by a speedy vehicle, the police said.

SHO, Piparpur, DK Singh said that a seriously injured Rita was rushed to a hospital but she did not survive.
