Lionsgate is developing a drama about an American hip hop group 2 Live Crew and its one-time member and leader Luther Campbell.
"Power Rangers" actor RJ Cyler is being considered to play Campbell in the film, reported Deadline.
Craig Williams will write the screenplay for the film from the memoir "Book of Luke: My Fight for Truth, Justice and Liberty City".
The studio has also joined hands with Temple Hill to make "The Book of Luke".
It will tell a story that is Straight Outta Compton meets The People Vs. Larry Flynt, the rise of a provocative hip hop group and its envelope-pushing antics that got Campbell out of his poverty-stricken origins in Miami to become a millionaire and a galvanizing symbol of free speech.
