Two members of a women's self-help group (SHG) in the district were booked for allegedly hoarding quintals of wheat for selling it in open market, police said today.

In a surprise inspection at the fair price shop operated by the accused Prerna Katkar and Priti Lade, officials of Food and Civil Supplies department unearthed the hoarding, they said.

"The duo had kept aside for sale in open market a stock of 22.53 quintals of wheat, priced at Rs 16,897 for sale at the fair price shop. They had also allegedly sold around 85 kg of rice in open market and kept the earnings to themselves," police said.
