3 IEDs recovered from Sukma district during CRPF DG's visit

Three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs),suspected to be planted by Maoists, were recovered from Chhattisgarh's Sukma district during visit of CRPF Director General Prakash Mishra in the region today.

While two explosives were recovered by a CRPF team from Polampalli police station limits, another IED, weighing 15 kg, was unearthed in Kistaram area by district (police) forces, a senior police official told PTI.

A squad of CRPF's 223 battalion was on an area domination exercise on Jagargunda-Dornapal route when they spotted electric wire connection near Kankerlanka hills and traced it to theIEDswhich were kept in steel containers hidden beneath earth, he said.
 

The exact calibre of the explosives is not known but it is reported to be of high intensity, he added.

In another incident, a team of district force recovered a 15-kg tiffin bomb planted beneath a makeshift road near Dharampenta village, the officer said.

Explosiveswere immediately destroyed by the bomb disposal squads.

Meanwhile, Mishra today visited the paramilitary camp in Bhejji area of Sukma where composite forces have been carrying out an intense anti-naxal operation from past one month.

He reviewed the operations in the region and also held discussion with senior officials at the camp.
