Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have busted three inter-state drug rackets and arrested 10 persons and seized over 18 kg of cannabis and intoxicants from their possession here.
"Under operation Sanjeevani, a special drive against drugs was launched by district police in Jammu. A major success was achieved by busting three inter-state drug rackets in a single night and 10 persons were arrested and 18.5 kgs of cannabis and intoxicants seized," SSP Jammu Suni Gupta told reporters here today.
He said on the intervening night of August 28-29, a police party, deployed outside Shiv Temple at Trikuta Nagar, intercepted three vehicles and when they were asked to get their vehicles searched they tried to flee away. Finding some thing suspicious, the police party nabbed all the five persons and seized 15 Kgs of charas from them", he said.
They were identified as Suraj Parkash, Altaf Ahmed, Ghulam Mohd Bhat, Mohd Amin and Mohd Sultan of Kashmir valley.
In the second incidence, police, during a patrolling on national highway near Bambyal Morh, intercepted a Maruti car and found three persons in suspicious circumstances and while searching the vehicle, seven packets of charas, weighing approximately 3.5 kg, were recovered from their possession, Gupta said.
They have been identified as Bharat Bhushan of Jammu, Aqib Ahmed Mir and Ghulam Nabi Bhat of South Kahsmir.
In the third incident, the police party intercepted a truck and during a thorough search 1150 corex bottles were recovered and two persons, identified as Sanjay Sharma and Raj Kumar Sharma, have been arrested, he said.
An FIR has been registered in police station Bahu Fort, the officer added.
