36 people fall ill after drinking juice

Thirty six people were taken ill after consuming juice distributed during Ganesh idol immersion processions in suburban Jogeshwari area here, police said today.

The incident took place last evening and all the victims were admitted to a private hospital here, they said.

"Of the total 36 victims, 17 were discharged after treatment last night, while 19 others are still getting treated, but all of them are out of danger," DCP (Detection-I) Mohan Dahikar said.

The juice was distributed by an organisation named Sai Mauli Seva Samiti, he added.

According to police, no complaint has been filed in this connection and an investigation has been launched.
