A 4-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Loni area this morning.
Based on a complaint filed by the girl's parents, a case has been registered against the youth, identified as Sajid, at Loni police station.
According to police, the incident took place this morning when the girl was playing outside her house.
"When she was playing, Sajid reached there and took her to a vacant plot and raped her. After hearing the girl scream, some locals rushed to the spot. Sajid tried to flee, but they nabbed and beat him up," said a senior police officer.
The locals then called police and handed the accused over to them. "Police have sent the girl for a medical examination and further investigation is on," the officer added.
