5,000 Chinese mobiles worth Rs 1 cr seized in Ghaziabad

A truck ferrying Chinese mobile phones worth Rs 1 cr was seized by the Trade Tax Department here, an official said.
A company had imported the phones from China last week and now the truck was going to deliver the consignment from Delhi to Noida, he said.
A team headed by Assistant Commissioner Ashok Kumar Singh intercepted the vehicle on Vijay nagar bye pass NH-9 and recovered around 5,000 mobile phones, Joint Commissioner at Trade Tax Department Vijay Nand Pandey said.
The department slapped a fine of Rs 20 lakh on the Noida-based company, which had imported the mobiles, Pandey said, adding the truck was released yesterday after the recovery of fine.
