Five persons were killed and three others injured when a speeding car ploughed into a group of people in Ajmer district of Rajasthan, police said today.
The victims were standing alongside a road when the incident occurred in Bijay Nagar area last evening, police said.
The deceased were identified as Mahaveer Singh, Vishnu Jat, Kanhaiya Lal, Sampat Singh and Ranveer Singh. Three others injured in the mishap have been admitted to different hospitals, they said.
A case against the car driver has been registered.
