5-year-old girl on way to school killed in TN road mishap

A five-year-old girl was killed and five others, including her father and sister, were injured when a tipper lorry rammed into an autorickshaw in which they were travelling and then hit two persons waiting at the bus stand before coming to a halt, police said here.

M Krishnan was accompanying his two daughters -- Akshaya (5) and Pooja (9) -- and his neighbour's son Tarun (3) to their school in then autorickshaw when the driver of the lorry coming from behind lost control over the vehicle and dashed into the three-wheeler.

Akshaya died on the spot while her father, her sister Pooja and Tarun were injured, police said.
 

Then the lorry hit two students who were waiting for a bus to their college, injuring them.

All the injured have been admitted to a hospital by fire service personnel who rescued them. The condition of Pooja and Krishnan was stated to be very serious and they had been rushed to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital for further treatment.
