592 differently-abled persons in Delhi given assistive devices

A total of 592 persons suffering from different kinds of disabilities received aids and assistive devices at a camp organised here today.

According to a statement, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), an organisation functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, provided them with 1,356 aids and assistive devices, valuing more than Rs 61 lakh.

The beneficiaries were pre-identified during assessment camps conducted in northeast district of Delhi last year.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot, who inaugurated the camp, said the Centre has taken several initiatives for the welfare of differently-abled persons.
