Six persons have died in
separate mishaps in Hooghly district.
Superintendent of Police Sunil Chowdhury said three pilgrims, one of them a woman, were killed when a mini truck was hit by an overtaking lorry at Nandakuti last evening.
The deceased were part of a 30-member group from Bisnupur in South 24 Parganas district on way to the famous Tarakeswar Shiva temple.
The victims were identified as Tulsi, Chhotu and Dilip, he said.
In the second mishap, three vegetable vendors died on spot when their tempo collided with a truck at Sheoraphuli on G T Road last evening, the SP said.
The vendors were on way to a wholesale market.
