6 killed, 35 injured on Diwali in Etah

Six persons were killed and thirty-five others were injured in separate incidents here on Diwali yesterday, police said.

In the first incident, Vishnu (22) and Anuj (20) were returning home on their bike after purchasing crackers when the vehicle slipped in Jaithara area, resulting in an explosion of the crackers, police said, adding, they died on the spot.

In a similar incident, Manoj (21), Avnish (18), and Amit (14) were killed when their bike was hit by a truck near Gilodia village in Rijor area, they said.

In an another incident, a cracker accidently caught fire, killing four-year-old Devanshu and injuring five others in Batasha market.
 

Also, thirty-one persons were injured in separate Diwali-related incidents, out of whom six are stated to be serious, police said.
