Six youths were killed in the wee hours today when the car which they were travelling in overturned on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway here, police said.
The incident took place around 3 AM when driver of the car lost control over the vehicle, apparently due to over-speeding near Baur village under Kamshet police station, inspector I S Patil said.
The deceased, believed to be students of various colleges in Pune, have been identified as Aditya Bhandarkar (17), Abhishek Roy (21), Yash Shirali (18), Rajaram Bhilare (20), Jokim Samuel (19) and Umesh Patil (24).

"All the occupants were coming to Pune from Mumbai. When the car reached near Baur village on Expressway at around 3 AM, the driver lost the control over wheel, which led to the mishap," he said.
"The car after overturing, got dragged for almost 100 meters and Aditya, Yash and Abhishek died on the spot, whereas Rajaram and Jokim succumbed to injuries at a hospital," Patil said.
He said Umesh Patil who was critically injured in the mishap died later in the day.
The officer said police also found a sachet of marijuana in the car. However, the medical reports of all the deceased for any suspected consumption of drug are nil, he added.
"The reason why did they go to Mumbai is yet to be investigated," Patil added.
