Anti-corruption body files charge sheet against eight in J-K

An anti-corruption body today filed a charge sheet against eight people, two of whom have died, for allegedly tampering revenue records related to a state land, in a court in Rajouri district, officials said.

The charge sheet was filed against four former revenue officials and the beneficiaries in the anti-corruption court in Rajouri after obtaining necessary sanction from the competent authority, a spokesman of the Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ), said.

He said the court has setOctober 9as the next date of hearing of the case.

The spokesman said vigilance registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act on July 2, 2011 following allegations that illegal entries and tampering of records related to a state land by the revenue officials have taken place at Dali village in Kalakote area of Rajouri.
 

"The accused public servants, in a criminal conspiracy with the accused beneficiaries by abusing their official position, conferred undue benefits to them and made illegal and fraudulent revenue entries related to a state land in favour of the beneficiaries," the spokesman said.
