Anti-national elements fomenting violence in Jammu and Kashmir should be severely dealt with, former IG of state Farooq Khan, who once spearheaded operations against militants in the state, today said.
Khan, who was recently appointed Administrator of Lakshadweep, expressed confidence in the government's handling of the situation.
"The way the situation is being dealt, those who are handling it all are experts...It is being dealt properly," he told reporters here.

"We are ready to talk with the peace-loving people who believe in Insaniyat. But anti-national elements should be dealt with the way they should be," said Khan, who was the force behind setting up of the counter-insurgency force in the Valley.
On his priorities as the administrator of the strategically-important Lakshadweep Islands, he said he would work to safeguard the integrity of the country.
"My priorities like any other administrator would be the welfare of the people of the state or the area assigned to me and the details would be known after I reach there.
"But, the main aim of any administrator is to work for the welfare of the people, work for national integrity and safeguard the national boundaries," he said.
