Seven dacoits in police uniform allegedly looted gold jewellery worth Rs 9 crores from a leading showroom in Saharanpur district, police said today.
Two armed dacoits in police uniform entered the Tanishq showroom yesterday followed by five others who together looted gold jewellery worth Rs 8 to 9 crores at gun point and fled from the scene after the crime, IG (STF) Sujit Pandey said.
While one of the culprits was carrying a carbine others were having smaller weapons, Pandey said, adding that they also took away the CCTV camera installed in the showroom.

Seven teams have been constituted to work out the case and help has been sought from the Special Task Force (STF) besides that of adjoining districts and neighbouring states, police said.
No arrests have been made so far in the case, they added.
Meanwhile, taking a serious note over delay in finding a breakthrough in the dacoity, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today suspended SSP, Saharanpur Bharat Singh Yadav.
"The chief minister has suspended SSP, Saharanpur Bharat Singh Yadav with immediate effect following his failure to effectively control crime," an official spokesman said.
