The Army today sent 18 girls from a remote village of Darchiks in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir, on an educational tour to visit various parts of the country.
"The educational tour comprising 18 girl students and two lady teachers under the aegis of Tiger Hill Brigade, was flagged off today from remote village of Darchiks near Batalik," defense spokesman S N Acharya said.
The tour spanning 11 days aims to expose the young girls to the rich and diverse cultural heritage, economic growth and secular nature of the country.

"The children will get an opportunity to visit places of cultural, educational, economic and historical interest in the cities of Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamshala and Chandigarh", Acharya said.
Darchik is a hamlet in Kargil district of Ladakh region that is home to "pure Aryans".
The village is one of the four 'Aryan' villages in the entire nation and leads a very conservative life.
