Press Trust of India New Delhi
Union minister Jitendra Singh today said the bandh call given by the separatists during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit has exposed them as the one who do not want development but intends to play politics.

Hurriyat leaders have called for strike on April 2 against the visit of Modi to the state, when he will dedicate to the nation the country's longest road tunnel between Kashmir Valley and Jammu.

The tunnel will reduce the journey duration between Jammu and Srinagar by two hours.

"If anybody has problems, he or she is exposing himself to the entire world about their real intensions, their intention is not to ensure or seek development of Jammu and Kashmir, their intention is only to play politics by other means.

"These are the same Kashmir-centric leaders whose own children and kins are beneficiary of some of the lucrative government jobs," Singh said outside Parliament.

He said the inauguration of the tunnel is a matter of pride for every Indian and people of the state as it will be a "game changer" in terms of revenue generation and ease of doing business, apart from reducing journey time.

This is a tunnel which is going to be a "game changer" as far as development process of the northern state is concerned.

The negotiation through hilly road, will be provided through an alternative means by a ten-kilometre tunnel, as the road was always vulnarable to snow and landslides.

The 9-km long 'Chenani-Nashri Tunnel' will reduce the distance by 31 kms, bypassing snow-bound upper reaches. The estimated value of daily fuel savings will be to the tune of Rs 27 lakh.
