A group of unidentified persons gheraoed the BJP MLA Sardar Tarasingh near a polling booth in suburban Mulund this evening, police said.
Election to the Mumbai civic body BMC was held today.
DCP Sachin Patil said that some people objected to Sigh's presence near the polling booth in Navaghar and gheraoed him.
No complaint was registered as Singh was not attacked, but his son Rajnit claimed that his father's car was attacked.
Singh who was siting inside the vehicle escaped as the police promptly arrived and dispersed the crowd, Rajnit added.
He was then taken to Navaghar police station under protection following the incident, he said.
