Decomposed body of a missing four-year-old girl, who was apparently tortured before being murdered, was recovered from a room on the terrace of building near her house at New Town's Shibtala area today, police said.
The girl was missing since Monday morning and searches in and around the area failed to locate her.
Following the trail of stench, the girl's uncle Shankar Naskar went upstairs to the terrace of his house, a few hundred metres away from the girl's residence, and found her body inside a sack.
It seems she was tortured before being strangulated to death. Both of her eyes are plucked out and two of her fingers are found cut, the police said.
The family has lodged a complaint based on which two of their neighbours were detained.
