Cardamom declined by 0.8% on sluggish spot demand

Speculators offloaded positions on the back of subdued demand in the spot market

Cardamom prices fell 0.78% to Rs 1,155 per kg in futures trade today after speculators offloaded positions on the back of subdued demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March month fell by Rs 9.10, or 0.78% to Rs 1,155 per kg in business turnover of 14 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in April contracts shed Re 1, or 0.10% to Rs 1,021.40 per kg in 199 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators due to sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly led to the fall in cardamom futures.
