Cardamom prices softened by 0.25 per cent to Rs 1,147 per kg in futures market today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid easing demand in the spot market.

Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions too weighed on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March fell by Rs 2.90, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 1,147 per kg in business turnover of 11 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April contracts was trading lower by Rs 2.10, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 1,153 per kg in 2 lot.

Traders said besides profit-booking by participants at existing levels, a decline in demand in the physical market influenced cardamom futures.
