Cardamom prices plunged by 4.87% to trade at Rs 682 per kg in futures trade today as speculators locked in gains at prevailing higher levels amid easing demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in November slumped Rs 34.90, or 4.87%, to Rs 682 per kg in a business turnover of 330 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in December shed Rs 3.20, or 0.42%, to Rs 757.30 per kg in 306 lots.
Market analysts attributed the fall in cardamom futures to profit-booking by speculators at existing levels amid fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks.
