Chicago State University (CSU) to confer a Doctorate of Honour degree to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in recognition of his "efforts to bring socio-economic development in the state".
Naidu would be the first foreign political dignitary to receive this singular honour from the US-based university, an official release said here today.
"The decision to award you the degree is a testimony to the highest regard that the University holds for you and for your extraordinary abilities to envision, plan, and bring fruition transformative changes for the good of the great people of AP," CSU President Wayne Watson said in a letter to the Chief Minister.
CSU is honouring Naidu for being a pioneer of reforms and bringing socio-economic development in AP by empowering farmers and unemployed women, the release said.
Earlier, a delegation from the University met the Chief Minister to present the letter in this regard.
It also requested Naidu to deliver a special address emulating his vision of development and hold interaction with students, business, political and community leaders of the State, the release said.

Underlining that the digital transaction is the way forward, Naidu asked the states to make the land records digitally available.
Minister of State for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) Rao Inderjit Singh said the realty rules must be implemented retrospectively so that those exploited in the past get a redressal mechanism.
Responding to the views and suggestions made, HUPA secretary Nandita Chatterjee clarified that no amendments to the Act would be considered at this stage since full implementation of the Act would begin only in May when Real Estate Regulatory Authorities and Appellate Tribunals would become functional.
She also clarified that the minimum plot size of 500 sq mt proposed in the Act for registration of projects with Regulatory Authorities was arrived at after several rounds of discussions by the Parliamentary Committees and in the Parliament, and it cannot be altered now.
Responding to the issue of excluding balconies from the definition of carpet area, it was explained that it posed no problems as costing could be accordingly informed to the buyers.
Interim Regulatory Authorities have been proposed in the Act so that they could put in place necessary institutional mechanisms for full-fledged Regulatory Authorities could become functional from the first of May, it was explained.
Any expenditure incurred by the promoters on development of land could be included as part of the cost of land, states were told, according to an official release.
During the review, it was informed that Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry would notify the Real Estate Rules next month.
Punjab and Uttarakhand have informed that the needful would be done after the elections to the state Assemblies.
Real Estate Rules have so far been notified for Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chandigarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nager Haveli, Daman & Diu and Lakshadweep.
