Northerly cold winds swept parts of Rajasthan marking the commencement of winter season with mercury plummeting by one to four degrees C at many places, a MeT report said today.

Mount Abu on hills recorded the lowest temperature of 8.4 degrees C while Sriganganagar was the coldest place in plains with 10.7 degrees C.

Mercury fell by one to four degrees C in north-west of Rajasthan, including Barmer, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Sriganganagar last night as compared to previous night.

Churu recorded a minimum temperature of 12.2 degrees C followed by Bikaner and Udaipur 15 degrees C each.

Elsewhere the minimum temperature ranged between 15.4 and 20 degrees C in the state.

The day temperature would also dip today in the state as misty weather conditions prevailed since last night.

Cold conditions will intensify in next couple of days as northerly winds continue to sweep the state, a forecast said.
