Delhi BJP today questioned the rationale behind the AAP government's Rs 1 crore compensation to the kin of an ex-serviceman whose suicide has triggered a row, alleging it was "politically motivated" and in "violation" of norms.
Party's Delhi unit chief Satish Upadhyay and senior BJP leader Vijender Gupta at a press conference here also attacked Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and accused them of doing "politics over dead bodies".
Gupta said the party will write to the Lt Governor to request him to set up a panel on awarding of compensation, so that "public fund is not misused by politicians with vested interests".

"He has called Ram Kishan Grewal a martyr ('shaheed'). Is he instigating ex-servicemen to commit suicide, by glorifying the act of suicide. And, doesn't the norm say, the compensation be awarded to those personnel who die in the line of duty, and are a resident of Delhi," Gupta claimed.
He alleged that the compensation announced by AAP dispensation to the family of Grewal, who hailed from Bhiwani, was "politically motivated" and "in violation" of the norms set for awarding it.
The two leaders made a beeline to Bhiwani, but where was Kejriwal when his own party worker committed suicide, the BJP leader asked.
"It is shameful that Kejriwal even discriminates in showing his sensitivity," Gupta alleged.
"We would like to ask Rahul Gandhi, what did her grandmother (Indira Gandhi) do when she was in power? Or what did P V Narasimha Rao or her mother (Sonia Gandhi) do as UPA chairperson," Upadhyay asked.
"Today, he (Rahul) is talking of welfare of army men. He, along with Kejriwal, is doing nothing but politics over dead bodies, and people of Delhi would show them their place in next elections," he said.
"Delhi is reeling under chikungunya and smog and pollution, but our non-resident CM is busy selling the Delhi model in Punjab, Gujarat and Goa," Upadhayay alleged.
