Constable suspended for firing in air from service rifle

A Jammu and Kashmir police constable has been suspended for allegedly firing several rounds in the air from his service rifle during a marriage ceremony in Miran Sahab area of Jammu city, police said today.

Constable Surinder Kumar, who is also Personal Security Officer (PSO) of BJP MLA from RS Pura Assembly constituency Dr Gagan Bhagat, was suspended yesterday for firing during a marriage ceremony on Wednesday night, a senior police officer said.

"After it came to our notice that the police constable fired in air from his service rifle during a marriage celebration, we placed him under suspension and ordered a departmental enquiry into the entire episode, said SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand.
