Coriander, turmeric up on pick in demand

Prices of coriander and turmeric rose by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale kirana market in the national capital today following uptick in demand from retailers.

Traders said pick up in demand from retailers against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to the rise in coriander and turmeric prices.

Coriander and turmeric were trading up by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,000-12,000 and Rs 6,900-10,100 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 120-170, black pepper (per kg) 560-740, betel-nut (kg) 290-310, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 800-820 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 850-1,070.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,100-1,200, cardamom (colour robin) 905-925, cardamom bold 935-955, cardamom extra (bold) 1,055-1,075 and cloves 560-680.
