Cox & Kings-owned Meininger Hotels to enter Switzerland

Tour and travel firm Cox & Kings- owned Meininger Hotels and Losinger Marazzi AG have signed a contract to open a property in Zurich, Switzerland.

With about 170 rooms and 600 beds, the hotel is expected to open by the end of 2019, a release issued here said.

It will be the first hotel of the Meininger Group in Switzerland.

"We are pleased to announce our entry into Switzerland with the signing of this project in Zurich. The city is well connected to the rest of Europe and a popular tourist destination. The hotel will be an exceptional addition to our portfolio," Cox & Kings Director Peter Kerkar said.
 

Meininger is a subsidiary of Holidaybreak, a travel group specialising in educational and activity holidays.

Holidaybreak Ltd is a subsidiary of Prometheon Holdings (UK), which is part of Cox & Kings.

Meininger currently operates 16 low budget hotels in Europe, with a total of 7,025 beds in 10 European cities, including one in Amsterdam, four in Berlin, two in Frankfurt, three in Vienna and one each in Brussels, Hamburg, Cologne, London, Munich and Salzburg.

The company has signed contracts for 12 new hotels, with a total of 7,517 beds.
