China's ruling Communist Party, arguably the largest political outfit in the world, plans to downsize its massive 82.6 million membership to make it slim to change along with time, according to a report.
The official media here reported that the Communist Party is considering to "proper size" its membership and boot-out the unqualified members.
Official numbers show that there are over two million new additions to the Party's rolls each year.

Some experts allude to the example of the Communist Party of the former Soviet Union, which seized power with two lakh members, but collapsed when it grew to nearly 20 million in 1991.
Party scholars were quick to respond with suggestions of an "exit mechanism" in order to kick out unqualified members, while acknowledging this would prove to be a daunting task.
They argue that this was because all kinds of people joined the party to seek power and personal gains rather than serve the ideals of communism, the state-run Global Times reported.
