Delhi Tourism to celebrate World Tourism Day with cycle tour

Cycle heritage tours and musical performances by the bands of police and paramilitary forces will be among the highlights of the Delhi Tourism's celebrations for World Tourism Day on Sunday.

"The day will be marked with the inauguration of a 7-km long cycle tour covering Mehrauli Heritage Zone by Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra. The tour will offer an opportunity to discover the facets of Delhi's Heritage on cycles," Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) said in a statement.

"We will also be launching wi-fi services at Dilli Haat in INA. Vodafone has been chosen as the preferred partner by DTTDC to deploy world class carrier grade, and secure wi-fi services at this location to enhance the overall experience of the visitors for them to stay digitally connected on the go through high speed internet access," it added.
 

Since 1980, the World Tourism Day has been celebrated across the world on September 27 with a different theme each year. This year's theme is "One Billion Tourists - One Billion Opportunities".

"Activities like musical performances by the bands of police and paramilitary forces at Dilli Haats, traditional welcome of tourists at Delhi Tourism information counters, will be the highlight of the day.

"The Coffee Home at Connaught Place, will flow to light and calming tunes of piano music with a live performance at the venue," it said.

Delhi Tourism has also planned complimentary sight-seeing tours for the visually impaired and differently-abled students. The entry at all three Dilli Haats and Garden of Five Senses will be free on the day.
