Two consignments of drugs worth over Rs 2 crore were seized in suburban Andheri and Kandivli and two persons were arrested, a police official said today.

Acting on a tip-off that a drug consignment would arrive in Shastri Nagar area last night, a special team in mufti, led by sub-inspector Daya Nayak, intercepted a car.

"Upon searching, the two occupants of the car, later identified as Krishna Chowdhury (31) and Mukesh Takle (31), were each found to be in the possession of 1 KG of MD drug," he said.

Chowdhury and Takle were arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said.

Their questioning led police to the residence of Chowdhury in Kandivli from where another consignment of 11.40 kg drugs was recovered.

"The combine value of the seizure (13.40 kg) is Rs 2.73 crore in the international market," the official said, adding the drugs were meant to be sold to various peddlers across the city by Chowdhury.

The accused told police that the drugs belonged to suspected international drug supplier Kailash Rajupt who operates from Dubai.

Rajput is wanted in several such cases in Delhi and Mumbai, according to the official.
