The Delhi Election Commission today said it will seek a report from the police regarding BJP's complain that 21 SHOs were transferred to "manipulate the result of the election process."
"We have received a representation from BJP today in this regard. We will seek details from Delhi police in this regard and accordingly action will be taken," said Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vijay Dev.
BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi today met Dev to air her party's grievances regarding tearing of posters and hoarding from "paid sites" by Delhi police and manipulation in transfer of 21 SHOs.
"We wanted to bring these two issues in the notice of the Election Commission. Hoarding and posters of the party were being torn by Delhi police from the paid sites, which is unjustifiable. There is a connection between the unauthorised manner in which police tore our posters and transfers of SHOs," said Lekhi outside the Delhi CEO's office.
Questioning the move to transfer SHOs of various police stations across the city, Lekhi said 40 SHOs were transferred but only 19 were required to be shifted and accused the Congress government and Delhi Police for being in hand and glove to manipulate assembly polls.
"These transfers were done while Model Code of Conduct is in effect," said Lekhi.
"Police cannot tear down our posters from paid sites after being shown relevant papers. The money spent on them goes in party's expenditure account. We have already given documents in this regard to Delhi CEO," said Lekhi.
Dev assured that the commission will ensure that no political party is being favoured or traumatised in any manner. An all party has been called tomorrow to discuss their issues in details, he said.
