Elderly couple robbed

An elderly couple was beaten

up and their belongings looted by a gang of dacoits at Jagatpur in Howrah district.

Officer-in-charge, Uluberia police station, said the couple - Tapan and Geeta Roy - were beaten up by a gang of three last midnight.

They were then robbed off Rs 8,000 in cash and a huge amount of gold by opening the almirah locker, the oc said.

The miscreants, all wearing masks, left the couple with clothes stuffed in their mouth.
