Elderly woman strangled to death by daughter-in-law

A 70-year-old woman was strangled to death, allegedly by her daughter-in-law and her paramours, at Sekhwan village in Batala, police said today.

Joginder Kaur was living at the residence of her son Gurwinder Singh who has been working in Dubai for the past six months.

A complaint lodged with police by another of the victim's sons alleged that the accused woman had developed illicit relations with two youths and Joginder was opposed to this.

Police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC against the woman and her two paramours, who are absconding, police said.
