Renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra has decided to give his fans a glimpse of his eventful career with an autobiography that will chronicle his journey in the world of fashion and Bollywood, publishers Rupa Publications announced today.
It will also shed light on the concept of styling in Bollywood, and back-stories on the ideas for stylising heroes and heroines in landmark films such as "Dilwale Dulhanaiya Le Jaeyenge" and "Rangeela".
"I finally thought the time was right for me to tell the story of my life. After completing 25 years in the film industry, my life has become entwined with Indian cinema and its constituents. Now, after having completed 13 years of my couture label, I feel my journey can inspire those who find fashion as their true calling," Malhotra said.
Publishers said the book will see the designer recounting his relations not just with leading Bollywood ladies like Rekha, Sridevi, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Preity Zinta, Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Alia Bhatt, but also talk about his interactions with international celebs like King of Pop Michael Jackson, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Campbell, Kylie Minogue, Jermaine Jackson and the Princess of Riyadh.
"Manish has always dared to be different, and his story will not only dazzle, but will inspire the artist in every reader. I believe this beautifully written, captivating story will be cherished by people of all ages, and all over the world," Kapish Mehra, Managing Director, Rupa Publications India, said.
Co-author Kalra said the book was an attempt to capture some nuggets of Malhotra's life and bring them forward to "millions of his fans".
"Manish has been a friend for over a decade and his life is more fascinating than can ever be put into words," she said.
The book is slated for a 2019 release.
