Former MLA and Congress leader Mandavi Prasad Singh passed away after prolonged illness at a private hospital here.
He was 89.
Singh died last night during treatment at the hospital, family members said.

He was not keeping well for the past few years and was admitted to the hospital after his health condition deteriorated some days ago, they said.
Singh was elected MLA from Varanasi's Cantonment assembly seat in 1980 on an Indian National Congress ticket.
He is survived by three sons.
Singh's last rites were performed at Harishchandra ghat here.
He was given guard of honour by the district police and several Congress leaders and workers paid tributes to the deceased leader.
