With the arrest of four persons, police today claimed to have busted a gang, which used to steal live cables of Delhi Metro, and recovered wire worth around Rs 1 lakh from their possession.
The presence of the gang came to light in the wee hours of Friday when a security guard approached a police patrolling team and reported about thieves whom he had seen climbing the metro flyover of the airport express line near Buddha Gardens in south Delhi, said a police official.
The accused -- two of them spotted on the flyover and other two standing near a pillar underneath -- fled the spot as soon as they sensed police presence in the area.

The police also recovered around 20 metre-long cable worth around Rs 1 lakh, which the accused had dropped at the spot, and a wire cutter from the duo's possession, the official said.
During interrogation, they disclosed identities of their associates and two more -- identified as Raees and Rohit -- were arrested. All four accused are residents of a slum cluster at Rangpuri Pahadi in south Delhi, police added.
