Government is planning a mobile application that will provide all information related to pricing and availability of medicines as well as addressing consumer grievances, Fertiliser Minister Ananth Kumar said today.

Kumar today inaugurated a web portal 'Pharma Jan Samadhan', a web portal for consumer grievances related to pricing and availability of medicines.

"The National Pharma Pricing Authority (NPPA) has been searching for a weapon against black marketing and spurious medicines, and this portal will help them in that endeavor," Kumar said.

He emphasised that there is a need for pharma literacy in the country, especially at the level of end-user.

"There are also plans to come up with a mobile application, which provides all information related to prices and availability of medicines and at the same time make the consumers aware about spurious medicines," the minister said.

He also reiterated that the government is committed to regulating the prices of medicines that are on the National List of Essential Medicines.
