Gur prices decline on arrival of new stocks

Gur prices tumbled by Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market at the national capital today following arrivals of new stocks in the markets.

At Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar, gur prices plunged up to Rs 375 per quintal on adequate stocks.

Marketmen said adequate stocks following arrival of new lot in the market mainly put pressure on the prices but beginning of seasonal demand, limited the losses.

In Delhi, gur pedi and shakkar prices declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,700-2,800 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal, respectively.

Gur chakku also lost Rs 100 at Rs 2,700-2,800, while dhayya fell Rs 50 to Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal.
 

At Muzaffarnagar, gur ladoo prices fell sharply by Rs 375 per quintal to Rs 2,250-2,450 per quintal.

Gur Khurpa prices too plunged by Rs 200 at Rs 2,250-2,350 per quintal, while Chakku enquired lower at Rs 2,400-2,650 from Rs 2,450-2,525 per quintal.

Prices of gur Raskat also moved down by Rs 200 at Rs 2,400-2,500 per quintal on sluggish demand from beer makers due to beginning of winter season.

In Muradnagar, prices of gur pedi and dhayya moved down by Rs 200 and Rs 100 at Rs 2,300-2,350 and Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,700-2,800, pedi Rs 2,700-2,800, dhayya Rs 2,900-3,000 and shakkar Rs 3,000-3,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,400-2,500, chakku Rs 2,400-2,650, khurpa Rs 2,250-2,350 and Ladoo Rs 2,250-2,450.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,300-2,350 and dhayya Rs 2,450-2,500.
